Over the past 2 years Regina YFC has used nature as a classroom for youth…
This year RYFC introduces Queen City Escapes (QCE), ‘Low Cost – wilderness adventures for the youth of Regina’. QCE offers outdoor trips for both the emerging leaders, and underserved youth of our city. The youth who participate in a QCE outdoor trip will not only learn valuable people skills (like teamwork, leadership, character building, and communication) but they will also learn practical outdoor skills that will empower them to pursue the outdoors later on in life.
Where do we go?
Our most popular destinations for outdoor trips include the beautiful lakes of Northern Saskatchewan, and the vast mountain landscapes of BC/Alberta. QCE staff are competent to lead participants in a wide variety of outdoor settings; we would be happy to discuss any outdoor destinations that you have in mind for your group.
How old are the youth on QCE trips and how many youth can we take?
The youth on QCE trips range from 12-18 years old. While a typical QCE trip has 7-12 youth, the number of participants does vary according to the activities a group wants to do, the costs involved, and the ratio of supervisors to youth etc.
How long does a trip go for?
4-6 days is the most common length for a QCE trip, however, trips can range from 1-8 days depending on each particular group and their desired outcome/s.
What activities can we do?
Some of the activities that QCE offer are:
- Bushcraft and Navigation
- Canoe Building
- Climbing and Repelling
- Mountain Biking
- Winter trips (e.g. Snowshoeing, Cross-Country Skiing, Winter Survival, Ice Fishing etc.)
- Team Building and Adventure Based Learning activities
