Youth Housing

Uturn – New Building Update: We officially have possession of the entire building to ourselves. We are in the process of furnishing the facility. We would like to purchase bedroom furniture that will last us for 10 plus years. Each room requires a bed, mattress, linens, drawers, mirror and desk. The cost to furnish each room is $1000 (we have 10 rooms to furnish). If you are interested in making a donation, please let us know.

Uturn – Moose Jaw: Over the next few weeks our priority to is bring continued support, training and care to our house parents. They are doing a good job but their role can be stressful at times. We will be looking for people to serve on a volunteer steering committee for MJ. Please pray for wisdom.

Uturn – Regina: Heather Sanderson has joined the RYFC team as the Uturn Manager. Please pray for her as she adjusts to her new role, builds a partnership team and finds a family SUV. If you have a lead on a reliable and affordable SUV please let me know at james@yfcsask.com

Jedidiah House – Regina: Please pray for “M” in Jed house. He is a young man who has really enjoyed spending time at the SwitchBack UTH discipleship community on Wednesday nights. He is learning a lot about himself, God and others. Please pray for his mind, that he will have clear and healthy thoughts.

Ezekiel House: Over the last couple of years with working with Uturn and Jedidiah House, we have seen a need to provide a transition home for Youth moving toward independence. Using the other side of the new build we hope to provide a home for youth who need more support moving to independence. Please pray for us as we put this plan into action.

The Battlefords: Our prayers have been answered! We have found a short-term missionary for our Battleford team. Please pray for us as we work through the hiring and deputation process. Please contact: Ron Browning: browningrt@gmail.com

School Programs

SwitchBack UTH discipleship community: Over the summer Jimmy will be able connect at Dallas Valley Ranch camp and KLC to let kids know about YFC youth ministry.

Dimension 4: This week Jimmy connected with the Principal of Thom who would like to have us come back for another year! We are thankful for the chance to share life with hurting teens and help them through the tough stage of adolescence!

GymBlast: After being very busy last week, Jimmy has a week with no GymBlasts scheduled. He’ll need the rest as the end of June sees him doing 2-3 GymBlasts each week – some of them last the whole day!

Through Gymblast youth learn the value of teamwork, caring for each other and using positive words to build others up.

May 17th Update

We see the HOPE and POTENTIAL in every young person. We need your help to transform a generation from inside out.

Community Programs

Lamb’s Boxing Club: The youth have been offered the opportunity to be involved in a Bible study program led by Noah, one of our volunteers. We have had 9 youth sign up and more are interested! Each participant will be contacted each week to encourage them in their Bible reading and study. Pray for good connections between the youth and their encouragers!

We are looking for more volunteers if you are interested please contact Aaron Cross at aaroncross100@gmail.com.

Mentoring: Last week our staff had the chance to connect with a few of the youth who made commitments at the Lamb’s Boxing Club. We are working hard to get them connected with a community church. If you are interested in getting involved with an RYFC mentor program, please contact Phil at filltaylor.nz@gmail.com.

Leadership Training/YFC Sports Drop-In: We had a terrible thing happen at the Soul’s Harbour Youth Centre on Monday evening. Vandals from off the street came in during the program and vandalized by trashing the nursery area. On Mondays, there are 2 community groups using this youth centre and thankfully our team had good supervision (9 staff and 18 youth) and the program had the YFC youth accounted for. Please pray for Soul’s Harbour as they clean up the mess and also that our relationship with them will not be effected.
Please contact Phil at filltaylor.nz@gmail.com.

Youth Housing

Uturn - New Building Update: June Draude, the minister of Social Services, toured our new Uturn Home and was very impressed with the work of Regina YFC with the youth in care. It was a good chance to explain our program and our work with developing youth into taxpayers!

Uturn – Moose Jaw: “A” is a young person at our MJ home. Our youth leaders have been working very constantly with her to support and care for her. God is at work in her heart but she has many deep hurts only God can heal. Please continue to pray for protection over her mind and heart.

Uturn – Regina: The driveways were poured today! We have a 56 x 20 driveway for parking and recreation. (But we still have to walk on a temporary sidewalk while it cures.) Wes and Jan, our interim house parents, are really enjoying the role and the youth in the home. One young man wished Jan a Happy’s Mother’s Day and mentioned that she treats him like her own.

Jedidiah House – Regina: We continue to strive to have youth transition back to their families. Cam, our house manager at Jed has been working with parents to give them support and parenting skills to prepare them to have their kids back home.
As we “parent” these young men toward independence and becoming men of God, we are faced with many challenges. These boys are master manipulators and can only think about themselves. Many are spoiled and do not realize or acknowledge their need to be thankful in all things. Continue to pray for wisdom and knowledge for our team of committed leaders.

Dimension4: We are amazed at the questions and interaction we are having with the youth at Thom. The community continues to grow as youth ask questions about faith and life. Continue to pray God will open the hearts and minds of each young person who attends.

GymBlast: Jimmy is leading a GymBlast at Dallas Valley Ranch Camp on Thursday evening and one in Fillmore on Friday. Please pray for safety as he travels and physical well being as this is a very busy week!
